OSHA #500 Trainer Course in OSHA Standards for Construction Industry

Overview

The OSHA #500 course prepares qualified safety professionals to become authorized trainers in OSHA’s Construction Industry Outreach Training Program. After completing the course, you can teach OSHA 10-Hour and 30-Hour Construction courses and issue OSHA student completion cards.

You’ll review OSHA standards and construction hazards, learn how to teach Outreach courses, and develop effective training materials. You’ll also prepare and deliver a one-hour presentation on an assigned OSHA construction safety topic and pass a written exam.

Authorized OSHA Outreach trainers must complete OSHA #502 every four years to maintain their trainer status.

Prerequisites

You must complete OSHA #510 before taking OSHA #500 and have at least five years of construction safety experience. Your safety experience must receive pre-approval.

You may substitute one of the following credentials for two years of the safety experience requirement:

• A college degree in Occupational Safety and Health
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation
• Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) designation
