Adult Driver Education in Nebraska

The National Safety Council – Nebraska Chapter (NSCN) offers DMV-approved adult driver education and driving assessments for adults 18 and older.

Some people come to us for their first U.S. driver’s license. Others need a refresher after years off the road. We also work with older adults who want to stay confident and safe behind the wheel.

This program meets you where you are. If you’ve struggled to pass driving tests, or you’ve delayed getting a license, we can help you build the skills to move forward. If you’re an experienced driver but feel unsure in traffic, we’ll help you sharpen your awareness and rebuild confidence.

Older drivers (65+) often use this course to check in on their driving skills. Driving supports independence, but traffic risks change with age. This program helps you recognize those changes and adjust your driving to stay safer for yourself and others.

What the course includes

  • Six hours of classroom instruction
  • Three two-hour driving sessions in DMV-approved vehicles (totaling six hours of behind-the-wheel training)
  • Optional pickup and drop-off service (additional cost; contact NSCN before enrolling)

The program also meets requirements for Nebraska DMV Examiner refusals.

What you’ll learn

You’ll work on real-world driving skills like hazard recognition, safe following distance, space management, visibility, and decision-making in traffic. Our instructors are experienced and focused on practical, calm instruction. Vehicles are clean, modern, and maintained for training.

Important notes

  • Drivers 18+ are not eligible for a DMV test waiver. You’ll still need to complete required DMV testing to receive a license.
  • A valid learner’s permit is required before behind-the-wheel training begins.
  • Closed-toe shoes are required. No flip-flops or sandals are allowed during driving sessions

This is the best driver training for real roads, real traffic, and real-life situations.
