Overview

Mental health challenges can affect how people think, feel, and perform at work. Stress, anxiety, depression, and substance use concerns can impact focus, productivity, relationships, and workplace safety.

Mental Health First Aid teaches participants how to recognize signs of a developing mental health or substance use concern and respond with confidence. Similar to traditional first aid, the course helps people provide support until professional help is available or the crisis has passed.

The evidence-based training improves understanding of mental health and substance use challenges, reduces stigma, and helps connect people with appropriate resources.

Mental Health First Aid was developed by the National Council for Mental Wellbeing and is delivered by the National Safety Council – Nebraska Chapter.
