CycleFest

Load up the bikes, gather the kids and head over to the CycleFest – a FREE bike safety event, Sunday, May 18th from noon to 3 at Chalco Hills Recreation Area. Register at the event to be eligible for prizes. There is no pre-registration for this event.

CycleFest teaches children basic safe bike riding skills while stressing the importance of always wearing a properly fitted helmet.

This fun action packed event includes:

  • Free helmets (while supplies last) and bike safety inspections for those 15 and younger and DRAWINGS for FREE bikes all donated by the Bike Rack

For those 15 and older Bike Rack will give you a $15.00 discount bike inspection coupon to be redeemed at their store. Bike inspections are exclusively for those 15 and younger.

Nearly 90% of Nebraska’s children are NOT correctly secured in motor vehicles. Don’t risk the life of your child by allowing him or her to ride in an unsafe or improperly-installed safety seat! -

• Receive assistance from nationally-certified child passenger safety technicians while learning how to correctly install and use your child’s safety seat or booster seat. Please bring your car seat manual and vehicle owner’s manual [if available].

Child safety restraints, when used correctly, reduce the risk of death by 71% and the need for hospitalization by 69% for children ages 4 and under.

Because State Farm® cares about children and their safety; we are committed to learning about child passenger safety and sharing that information with you. You can learn how to correctly use car seats, booster seats, and seat belts for your children at the eighth annual State Farm Child Safety Day. Events are scheduled in May and September throughout the country. This "car seat inspection day" will be held at hundreds of locations across the United States, with many sites including other safety-related activities for parents and children (Source: http://www.statefarm.com/learning/child_safety/safeday.asp).

Liberty Safety Ride

Liberty Safety Ride, a fun way to promote safe motorcycling among vehicles and motorcycles, will raise funds to support the National Safety Council, Greater Omaha Chapter’s community safety programs designed to keep you and your family safe at home, safe at work, safe at play, and safe on the road.

 

Injuries are the fifth leading cause of death! The Council works diligently to reduce the cause of injuries and injury related deaths.

Help Prevent Injuries and Save Lives by Volunteering

Nationally recognized award winning Safety Council seeks volunteers to assist with community safety events. We would love you to join us in reaching those in our community. Tasks may include staffing registration and/or educational booths, demonstrating safe procedures, distributing materials, mailing promotional and educational materials and more. Please consider contributing your time for injury prevention. You help will prevent injuries and save lives.
