Scooter Basic Rider Course

Course Description:

The Scooter Basic Rider Course (SBRC) is an entry-level, learn-to-ride scooter training and education course. Participants learn fundamental skills of riding, using their own mechanically sound scooter. At graduation, riders receive a Motorcycle Safety Foundation completion card which allows the scooter endorsement to be added to the Nebraska Operator’s Permit. Curriculum includes classroom sessions and range exercises followed by a riding evaluation.

Course Includes:

  • Scooter controls
  • Pre-riding safety inspection
  • Basic riding skills (mounting, starting, posture, turning, stopping, etc.)
  • Street strategies
  • Sharing the road 
  • Evasive maneuvers
  • Safely handling other special situations
  • The effects of alcohol and other drugs on the body
