Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of on-the-job fatalities and the third leading cause of death for all Americans. Each year, crashes claim tens of thousands of lives and cost Americans billions of dollars in medical expenses, lost productivity, and property damage.
TheNational Safety Council, Nebraska Seat Belt Safety Award is an effort by the National Safety Council, Nebraska to recognize those dedicated to saving lives through seat belt use. Nebraska businesses, schools, and organizations are encouraged to apply.
A Seat Belt Safety Award member receives recognition at the National Safety Council, Nebraska Breakfast Series but even more rewarding is the knowledge that participation in the Seat Belt Safety Award Program plays an integral part in saving the lives of employees, family members, and friends.
How to Join the National Safety Council, Nebraska Seat Belt Safety Award Program
- Contact us for a free starter kit including; instructions for completing seat belt safety checks, survey data collection forms, "I buckled up today" stickers, and promotional and educational materials.
- Follow the instructions using the forms provided in the kit to perform an unannounced check to observe seat belt usage. A rate of 90% or above immediately puts you on the National Safety Council, Nebraska Seat Belt Safety Award List!
- If your organization's rate is less than 90%, we recommend that you implement a seat belt safety campaign within the organization. Using the tools in your Seat Belt Safety kit, conduct another unannounced seat belt check 30 days after the initial check. Organizations who achieve 90% or greater usage rates the second time are placed on the National Safety Council, Nebraska Seat Belt Safety Award list.
- Seat Belt Safety Award recipients are recognized at the National Safety Council, Nebraska monthly Breakfast Series.
Renew the Seal Belt Safety Award commitment annually to make seat belt safety an on-going priority.
