Responsibilities for this position include:

  • This position reports to the Safety Manager for our Coatings Division and has no direct or indirect reports
  • This role requires up to 15% travel (internationally/domestically), including overnight stays
  • Support the division and underlying sites in achieving EHS targets and objectives
  • Support development, maintenance, and continuous improvement efforts of the management system to facilitate EHS strategic initiatives
  • Support the preparation of reports and dashboards of key EHS performance indicators to track leading and lagging indicators and supporting EHS information
  • Manage the incident alert and other data sharing activities to ensure effective and timely information dissemination
  • Work closely with subject matter experts and stakeholders to deliver quality instructional content for site use in the area of EHS
  • Work closely with subject matter experts and stakeholders to ensure programs and policies are effective and up to date in the area of EHS
  • Recognize and be able to integrate principle Continuous Improvement (Lean/CI) concepts into EHS and vice-versa

Other Important Details about the Role:

  • Perform basic management system troubleshooting and basic safety management system set up and user configuration for supported sites
  • Monitor EHS task assignment with the goal of reducing individual site administrative burden through the continuous improvement process
  • Ensure prompt scheduling of root-cause analysis reports from incident investigations
  • Support the development and maintaining of risk assessments at the location to identify critical EHS hazards and opportunities for safety improvements for jobs/tasks
  • Conduct on site audits/inspections

Job Requirements

To be successful in this position, the candidate must have:

  • Preferred Bachelor’s with 5+ years of relevant experience or Associates Degree with 7+ years relevant experience or 9+ years of relevant experience
  • Must have a broad, technical background with strong analytical skills and business acumen
  • Demonstrated environmental, health and safety management success in a manufacturing environment with an emphasis on program implementation and training
  • The ability to work in a cooperative manner and communicate effectively in a positive manner with all levels of the organization
  • The ability to read, interpret and develop safety policies, procedures, training materials and standard operating instructions and procedural manuals
  • Ability to travel approximately 10-15%
  • Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results

Responsibilities for this position include:

•    Ensures compliance with federal, state and local laws related to safety in order to reduce or eliminate hazards. Responsible for accident data compilation, abatement and record keeping.
•    Acquire, maintain and redistribute information on current health and safety regulations. Use this information to develop, coordinate, implement, audit (personnel, equipment  and  materials)  and enforce safety programming company-wide.
•    Lead safety education efforts, including new hire orientation and regular training meetings.
•    Serve as the main point-of-contact for safety communication; the Safety Director will maintain regular communication with necessary agencies, management, office staff, field supervision and sub­ contractors.
•    Provide safety-related supervision, guidance and support for company employees.

Job Requirements

To be successful in this position, the candidate must have:

•    Bachelor's Degree in construction management, occupational health and safety, engineering or related training/experience required.
•    Minimum five years of construction safety experience.
•    30-hour OSHA training required; other relevant safety, health, construction or environmental qualifications are a plus.
•    Strong, diplomatic leader with a passion for doing what is right over what is easiest.
•    Firm understanding of federal and state safety regulations with demonstrated ability to identify known potential hazards and lead implementation of corrective actions
•    Excellent problem-solving and communication skills to lead and interact at all levels  of  the organization.
•    Must have a valid driver's license and the ability to travel between multiple projects; site visits will generally be within 150 miles, but extended travel may be required on occasion (less than 10%).
