Safety Coordinator - EPCI

POSITION:                   Safety Coordinator

REPORT TO:               Operation's Manager

CLASSIFICATION:       Full-time, Exempt

GENERAL SUMMARY

The Safety Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the Plant safety program at the site-specific level assuring all required training, reporting, and documentation is completed while enforcing accountability for safety violations. Physically monitor all production processes on a daily basis to correct any safety violations or issues as they happen

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS

  • Conduct all OSHA and Company required safety training. 
  • Properly maintain all training documents and records to include dates and attendance records.
  • Perform daily observations of all plant production to immediately correct any safety violations or issues.
  • Facilitate quarterly safety committee meetings and maintain meeting minutes.
  • Make recommendations to current Company safety program.
  • Monitor accident trends and implement corrective actions or program changes to reduce accident frequency.
  • Investigate and report all accidents, near misses and observations.
  • Partner with Corporate Safety Team on all issues relating to the Company safety program.
  • Create a positive safety culture.

KOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Excellent Communication Skills both verbally and in written form.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, procedure and operating manuals and maintenance instructions.
  • Ability to write routine and complex reports and develop and analyze statistical data of finished and unfinished projects.
  • Upholds and supports organizational goals and values.

EDUCATION / EXPERTISE / CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Construction Management or related field
  • Plus, a minimum 2-years’ experience in an onsite-safety compliance role.
  • OSHA 30 Training Required (or ability to obtain with 120 days)

Safety Manager - MCL Construction

POSITION:                   Safety Manager

REPORT TO:                Director of Field Operations

CLASSIFICATION:       Full-time, Exempt

GENERAL SUMMARY

Full-time position for MCL Construction, a general contractor working primarily in commercial construction.  The Safety Manager is directly responsible for managing the safety and risk associated with construction projects and company operations. The Safety Manager will proactively develop, plan, direct and implement MCL’s safety program to ensure a safe, healthy and accident free work environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS

  • Oversees MCL’s Safety Program including the development and implementation of safety policies and procedures.
  • Oversee development and implementation of project-specific safety policies and procedures.
  • Enforce compliance with all applicable federal, state, county and local safety related regulations.
  • Directs safety training programs to all levels of staff, as required, by Federal and State safety regulation to reduce accidents, occupational illnesses, and exposure to long-term health hazards.
  • Support the onsite project managers and superintendents in ensuring each construction project is conducting operations in a safe manner for the protection of our employees, clients, subcontractors and the general public.  Provide support to field staff in the event of an OSHA site inspection.
  • Coordinate with Project Supervision so that necessary protective equipment and safety materials are utilized, adequate first aid materials are available and safety documents are posted on-site
  • Participates in early return to full-duty work responsibilities for injured workers and to provide meaningful light duty transitional work opportunities.
  • Perform and oversee investigation of accidents, injuries and unsafe working conditions to include interfacing with workers compensation claims and communication with injured workers and the return to work strategies.
  • Cooperate in the preparation of material and evidence for organizational use in hearings, lawsuits and insurance investigations. Provide recommendations for remedial action
  • Frequently travel to job sites to check and maintain job safety and ensure the Company and its job sites remain hazard and accident free by conducting periodic safety inspections

REQUIREMENTS

  • Demonstrated years’ experience managing safety efforts of large commercial construction projects across several types (Medical, Commercial Office, Educational, Religious, Multi Family, Entertainment, etc.)
  • Excellent communication, organizational, decision-making and problem-solving skills required
  • Ability to perform various safety functions on-site, including managing/administering safety orientations, overseeing substance abuse programs and investigating/reporting injuries/illnesses/near misses
  • Ability to work with all groups: MCL staff and management, owners representatives, trades and subcontractors 
  • Extensive knowledge of OSHA safety processes and guidelines and Worker’s Compensation Regulations.
  • OSHA 30 and CPR/First-Aid Certified
  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred
  • OSHA 500 certification preferred
  • CHST or CSP preferred
  • Effective organizational and time management skills
  • Effective presentation skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication

Field Safety Coordinator - MCL Construction

GENERAL SUMMARY

Full-time position for MCL Construction, a general contractor working primarily in commercial construction.  Safety Coordinator will create, support and audit our programs which reinforce our commitment to safety. The Field Safety Coordinator will be responsible for the successful implementation and support of the Site-Specific Safety Plan to ensure a safe, healthy and accident free work environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS

  • Assist MCL’s Safety Manager and Job Superintendent in developing and enforcing MCL’s overall Safety Program and Site-Specific Safety Plan including the development and implementation of project specific safety policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate with Project Supervisors so that necessary protective equipment and safety materials are utilized, adequate first aid materials are available, and safety documents are posted on-site
  • Support the onsite project managers and superintendents in ensuring each construction project is conducting operations in a safe manner for the protection of our employees, clients, subcontractors and the general public.  Provide support to field staff in the event of an OSHA site inspection.
  • Collaborate with the craft every day in the field to support craft ownership of the safety program
  • Plan, prioritize, and problem-solve with operations in the field based on leading indicator trends and upcoming work
  • Responsible for leading and conducting inspections and audits of site activities
  • Complete a daily documented hazard inspection, and assist operations, craft, and subcontractors with implementation of corrective actions
  • Assist and provide safety training on policies, procedures, orientation, and client specific requirements

REQUIREMENTS

  • Knowledge of construction safety, current Federal and OSHA requirements
  • Ability to perform various safety functions on-site, including managing/administering safety orientations, and investigating/reporting injuries/illnesses/near misses
  • Ability to work with all groups: MCL staff and management, owners representatives, trades and subcontractors
  • Extensive knowledge of OSHA safety processes and guidelines, and Worker’s Compensation Regulations.
  • OSHA 30, OSHA 510 and CPR/First-Aid Certified
  • Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or a related field of study is preferred.  An acceptable mix of education, experience, and certifications will be considered.
