Returning Rider Basic Rider Course

COURSE DESCRIPTION :

This program is designed for riders who have a permit and possess basic skills, but who have not ridden for several years. The training combines elements of the Basic Rider Course and the Experience Rider Course and includes a knowledge test and skills test.Participants will use National Safety Council, Nebraska training motorcycles. Students need all required safety gear to participate. At graduation, riders receive a MSF completion card which allows the motorcycle endorsement to be added to the Operators Permit, without testing.

Participants must be 18 years of age or older and a statement of understanding must be completed prior to attending this course. Participants must demonstrate minimal proficiency with basic motorcycle operation during the two screening exercises and will be dismissed from the course if riders don't demonstrate minimal proficiency.

COURSE INCLUDES :
  • Selecting a motorcycle to suit your needs, riding style, and body type

  • Selecting a quality helmet and other riding gear

  • Motorcycle controls

  • Pre-riding safety inspection

  • Basic riding skills (mounting, starting, posture, turning, stopping, etc.)

  • Street strategies

  • Sharing the road 

  • Evasive maneuvers

  • Safely handling other special situations

  • Carrying passengers or other loads

  • The effects of alcohol and other drugs on the body
