June is National Safety Month

National Safety Council, Nebraska is proud to announce that the Mayor of Omaha, Jean Stothert has proclaimed June 2018 as National Safety Month. See her official proclamation below.

National Safety Month is more pertinent than ever as unintentional injuries have become the third leading cause of death in the U.S. for the first time in recorded history. To reverse that trend, this year’s National Safety Month theme, “No 1 Gets Hurt,” encourages everyone to take at least one step to improve safety in their lives and the lives of those they love.

Observed annually in June, National Safety Month focuses on reducing leading causes of injury and death at work, on the road and in our homes and communities. Below we provide downloadable resources highlighting a different safety topic for each week in June:

  • Week 1, June 1-9: Emergency Preparedness
  • Week 2, June 10-16: Wellness
  • Week 3, June 17-23: Falls
  • Week 4, June 24-30: Driving
Please take advantage of these materials and distribute them as you wish to spread the word about National Safety Month. Visit here to get access to more free materials.
